April 16 @ 8:30 am - April 30 @ 11:30 am
Live Video Conferencing (LVC) replaces much of our traditionally offered face-to-face sessions offered in previous years. For the convenience of our participants, these courses are offered in much like a live video webinar format (Live Video Conferencing) with a Statewide Field Team live instructor. Traditionally, these series were offered in two-day increments several times throughout the year. In 2018-2019 these courses will be offered in much shorter segments (three hours) every other week spread out throughout the school year . Each series has a distinct number of sessions, day of the week, and time of day. These will be identified in each session description. Materials presented in these courses are available to participants on the Statewide Field Team’s Online Learning Platform.
This course is offered electronically using live video conferencing equipment. Participants engage with all participants and the facilitator in live interactions from the convenience of their own district location using SWFT provided software. Participants must have a device with a camera and mic.
Research clearly demonstrates that a balanced assessment approach to teaching and learning is critical in determining if schools are doing the right work — but what does that mean? How do we know if our assessments are really communicating the data we need? Throughout this course, participants will explore the purpose(s) of assessment at the classroom, building, and district levels and the process by which they are developed using the foundational elements as defined by Understanding by Design authors Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe and this approach to determining students’ knowledge, skills, and understanding.
This course meets using Live Video Conferencing every two weeks on Tuesday mornings beginning April 16, 2019 from 8:30am – 11:30am. Two sessions total. A complete schedule and orientation to the learning technology will be given in the first session on April 16th.
