Performance management is a process for establishing a shared understanding about what is to be achieved and to what degree we are achieving it. Developing a shared understanding around organizational goals and developing the systems and routines to meet those goals sounds like a pretty good idea. Identifying goals, measuring progress along the way, and determining how the system will monitor and adjust to achieve the organizational goals just seems like a common-sense approach.
