February 4, 2019

Greetings!  Most of you were out for almost an entire week of school and are just returning to normal operations. The north today still experiences ice and fog and is out for a sixth, and some, a seventh consecutive day.  I hope Mother Nature will allow us all to bring our students back to school on a regular basis.

The third meeting of the Blueprint Superintendents’ Network is slated for next Monday, February 11 at the Crowne Plaza.  Recognizing that for some this is also a board meeting date, we will finish early enough to get you back to your districts so that you aren’t feeling pressed for time.

If you haven’t registered for the Network, you may do so here.

A complete summary of all professional learning events offered in our second Winter II term is attached for your convenience. There are links built into the pdf. When you download it you can click on the events to go directly to the event registration page.

The  Blueprint Dialogue Series is in full swing!.  These new resources allow us to dig a little deeper into some really good thinking and they allow us to extend meaningful dialogue with you, our many colleagues, in the Blueprint Network. We hope you’ll share these new resources with anyone in your district who can benefit from this ongoing dialogue.
Blueprint Symposium is now available on iTunes, Google Podcasts and Spotify!! Now easier than ever to find and listen. Just add it to your library and you’ll never miss an episode.

Blueprint Symposium, is a bi-weekly companion to Blueprint Installation Central.  Here we will dig deeper into issues and ideas we presented in the blog, but now in greater detail. Listen when it’s convenient and use these podcasts to build capacity and deepen understanding within your district.  Blueprint Symposium is now available on iTunes, Google Podcasts and Spotify!!

Blueprint Extra! is a bi-weekly video companion that will focus even more tightly on issues and thinking presented in the blogs and the symposium.  Following each episode, we’ll invite you to a twitter chat session scheduled for that week to continue the discussion in real-time. The second episode is available today. Click on the image on the left to go the BP Extra! channel on Vimeo.

Let’s take our Network of Disruptors and go LIVE!  The conversation around High-Quality Instruction (HQI) is complicated.  We’ve addressed some of the underlying work around HQI in earlier editions of Blueprint Symposium and Blueprint Extra!  Communicating the need to improve instruction and to get everyone on board at scale is tough. It makes people uncomfortable.   People get worried about evaluation. Some get defensive. The messaging and support around HQI as a part of the Instructional Infrastructure is probably the first major disruption that a Blueprint district faces when the action begins.

Let’s continue this conversation and explore ways of getting this work at scale without causing panic.
